What a Q1 it’s been! As I’ve been connecting with brand marketers and our own Stella media team over the past few weeks, the word “uncertainty” has popped up with somewhat alarming frequency. Consumer sentiment is down and brands are facing a critical choice: retreat or advance? While many instinctively slash budgets, freeze marketing, and hibernate until skies clear, history reveals a different winning strategy. The brands that thrive—the ones that capture lasting loyalty and emerge stronger—are those that boldly adapt, double down on demonstrating their value, nurture customer connections, and meet people exactly where they are. They don't just weather the storms of uncertainty; they dance in the rain!

Build & Strengthen Community

Loyal fans are a brand’s greatest asset. Investing in user-generated content and virtual and in-person events can help to foster deeper connections without requiring massive ad spend. It is important for brands to make consumers feel seen and heard. IRL connections are priceless but virtual communities with rewards and emotional connections can be remarkably powerful.

As consumers grow more selective about their purchases, emphasize the value proposition, highlighting the long-term benefits, multi-use, and quality of products. Educating consumers through authentic content around product usage and benefits—even for prestige brands—helps build trust and demonstrates value beyond the price tag.

Meet Consumers Where They Are

Consumers are shopping, engaging, and discovering products across multiple platforms. Brands that adapt their strategies to meet consumers where they are, like on TikTok and Reddit, can maximize impact while maintaining efficiency. We like to take a test-and-learn approach with a focus on high-intent audiences to ensure that marketing spend is highly targeted and measurable.
